Vaccines and safety in Egypt
Vaccines and local diseases
You are not required to take any vaccinations, but you must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are coming from an endemic area. If you are coming from Sudan, you must present up-to-date vaccination certificates for yellow fever, typhoid and cerebrospinal meningitis. If you cannot present these certificates, you risk being sent back to Khartoum. You must provide an HIV certificate for stays of more than 30 days if you are an employee (spouses and children are not subject to this requirement). Egypt does not accept foreign certificates. You must take the HIV test in Egypt.
- If you’re an adult, don’t forget vaccinations against tetanus, polio, hepatitis A & B, meningitis A & C, and for at-risk groups: tuberculosis and rabies.
- If you have children, don’t forget vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A & B (long stay), meningitis A & C (long stay for travellers aged 18 months and over), typhoid (long stay for travellers aged 5 years and over).
