The New Zealand Working Holiday Visa (WHV) is an agreement signed to promote exchanges between the two countries. French, Canadian and Belgian nationals can apply for a 12-month visa, renewable for 3 months under certain conditions. The cost of the visa is 208$NZ, with a lead time of about one week.

Conditions to apply
- Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your return.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 30 (35 for Canadians)
- Health insurance covering hospitalization and repatriation for the duration of your stay
- At least NZ$4,200 (about €2,500 for Europeans and CAD$3,800 for Canadians) and the ability to prove it
- Return ticket or proof that you can afford it.
- Not have already benefited from the New Zealand Working Holiday Program
- Not be accompanied by a dependant
- Settling in New Zealand 90 days maximum after obtaining VISA
- If you are already in France, you can apply for a temporary visa at WHV.

New Zealand does not have a quota of WHV
Visa applications for WHV can only be made online, and will not be accepted at the New Zealand embassy in Paris.
Documents required to complete the file
- Passport: photocopy of passport valid for 3 months after visa issue date
- Form: fill in and attach a printout of the form to the file.
- International health insurance International health insurance: provide proof that your insurance covers medical and hospital expenses and repatriation for the duration of your stay.
- Medical certificate less than three months old
- Round-trip plane ticketor proof that you have the necessary resources to purchase it
- Proof of bank funds, showing that you have at least NZ$4200 (about €2500 for Europeans and CAD$3800 for Canadians).
Application procedures
1. Complete the New Zealand working vacation program form

Then select the “working holiday visa” button.
2. Additional documents required for the file
- Completed application form for WHV New Zealand
- Supporting documents
- Your non-refundable payment of 208$NZ or about 125 € or 104 CAN$.
3. Renewal
It is possible to renew your visa once WHV for a period of 3 months. For this, you need to have worked for at least 3 months in viticulture or horticulture. This time the application is not made online, but at the New Zealand Immigration office. You must also provide the following documents:
- Fill in the SSE /WHE work visa application form (INZ 1153) in PDF format
- Pay immigration fees and taxes. You can calculate these costs online
- Attach proof of employment in the viticulture or horticulture industry, including a letter from your employer and pay slip.
- Provide proof that you have a return ticket, or at least sufficient funds to purchase one.
- Send the application to the nearest New Zealand Immigration Office
