The Working Holiday Program (WHP) is a temporary immigration visa that lets you combine work with travel and discovery.
The WHV in Australia is perfect for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who want to enjoy an incredible experience on the world’s largest island, while also having the right to work there! You can travel and discover Port Jackson, dive the Great Barrier Reef or visit Kanadu National Park, all while studying and earning a living during your stay.
Of course, you’ll need to adapt to Australian life, and respect the country’s rules. In the land of kangaroos and koalas, you drive on the left-hand side of the road, and you’ll need to be in possession of your French driver’s license, or an international license if you’re staying for more than a year.
Nor may you work for the same employer for more than 3 consecutive months. Several websites (Seek, CareerOne…) and newspapers offer classified ads to help you find the job that’s right for you. You’ll also need to find accommodation during the WHV period. While you’re waiting to settle down for a longer period of time, in a shared apartment or in a private apartment, you can stay temporarily in a hotel or youth hostel. These remain the simplest and least expensive solution. Once you’ve settled in, you’ll be able to take full advantage of this country’s wealth of discoveries and activities!
To be eligible for the PVT, you must meet certain conditions:
- take out travel insurance for the duration of your stay (we can offer you our WHV Junior International insurance, which offers excellent value for money).
- a French or Belgian passport valid for the duration of the trip
- have no dependent children
- do not apply more than one year before your trip
- and provide proof of sufficient funds in your bank account to support yourself if necessary.
All the documents you need to provide will be listed on your PVT application, which must be submitted online if you wish to travel to Australia.
Now all you have to do is pack your bags, and off you go!
