When should I go to the emergency room?

Not every medical situation requires you to go to the emergency room. You can also go to a doctor’s surgery the next day for a consultation.

The following cases do not, a priori, require emergency medical intervention:

  • sunburn or minor burns,
  • insect bites without other clinical signs,
  • minor cuts,
  • colds, coughs, sore throats,
  • fever without convulsion for an adult,
  • itching,
  • MST

On the other hand, it is essential to go to the emergency department – which in some countries can also be in a dedicated medical center – in these cases:

  • loss of consciousness,
  • signs of heart attack or stroke, including limb paralysis,
  • major head injuries, for example,
  • continuous bleeding,
  • animal bites that may require rapid rabies injections,
  • sudden, severe pain,
  • respiratory problems, poisoning,
  • bloody vomiting and if you feel you need urgent medical attention.
  • In the case of very young children, it is also important to anticipate certain emergencies, such as repeated vomiting linked to respiratory difficulties, and the rapid evolution of pathologies at an early age.

How can I get hospital treatment?

If you need to be hospitalized, you need to contact our assistance platform so that we can put you in touch with the hospital where you are to manage your care.
