What are the conditions for taking out insurance? Gold Expat

Cover takes effect on receipt of the application form, medical questionnaire, bank details, copy of passport and payment of premiums, and after validation by the insurer. The beneficiary of the contract is therefore covered from the moment of enrolment:

  • immediately for care and hospitalization due to accidents as well as for unexpected illnesses
  • after 3 months for all others sickness and hospitalization
  • after 6 months for care and prostheses including dental, orthodontics, optical expenses
  • after 10 months for a maternity

These deadlines can be waived if a health insurance policy was previously taken out and cancelled less than one month previously, with the exception of maternity cover.

The contract is then drawn up for a period of one year, automatically renewable unless terminated with two months’ notice in accordance with the terms of the contract. Premiums can be paid quarterly, half-yearly or annually.
